Southampton vs Ipswich Town
45 minutes gone here at St. Mary’s, and the home side are leading 1-0 and are leading well. In fact, they could have and probably should be leading by more. The game started with Ipswich looking bright and getting themselves forward early on. Their joy was stopped very quickly, however, when Lallana found Dibling in the fifth minute with an inch-perfect pass. Dibling built on his good showing last week by cooly tucking the ball past Muric to make it 1-0 to Southampton. Ipswich brushed off the goal and continued attacking, but the pressure amounted to nothing, a common theme of this first half. Archer rounded Muric in the 27th minute but stumbled as he took his shot and saw the effort stopped by the post. Ipswich are still in the game thanks to that post, as they are playing better attacking football out of the two teams.

Davis is finding it hard to break down the left side of the pitch, every time he goes forward, he is closed down by two or more players. Brilliant management from Russell Martin to keep that avenue quiet.

Not much happening as the game edges towards halftime; Southampton are more than happy to sit on their lead until the interval.

Dibling has once again shown his quality in this game, as he nearly breaks out of a tight area. He was brought down and looked to be in pain—if only he was wearing some shin pads!
