West Ham’s first European knock-out tie in over 40 years ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat by serial Europa League winners Sevilla.

A second-half goal by Moroccan forward Munir, who was only in the starting line-up after Ivan Rakitic was injured in the warm-up, settled the first leg in the Spanish side’s favour.

But Hammers boss David Moyes will have seen enough to feel his side are capable of overturning a one-goal deficit at the London Stadium in a week’s time and prolonging their European adventure.

Half-time: Barcelona 0 - 0 Galatasaray

45+1 mins: Nothing to separate the teams at half-time in Barcelona. The home side had the most joy going forward but the chance of the half probably came to Kerem Akturkoglu after a driving run down the wing.

Xavi won’t be too happy. He’ll want his team to up the tempo. They’ve been dangerous when moving the ball at pace.

36 mins: Chance! Kerem Akturkoglu goes on a brilliant run down the left side. He brings the ball down the wing and cuts inside, shifting away from two tackles before opening up angle to the far top corner. His strikes it good but there’s a slight deflection off Eric Garcia and the effort goes wide of the post! That would have been a great goal.
