United were nervous all night and an early mistake from David De Gea and Harry Maguire gave the hosts the lead after just eight minutes. Youssef En-Nesyri pressing high to win the ball and tap it past the goalkeeper.
Lucas Ocampos believed he had added a second just before the break but a close VAR call ruled his strike out for offside. Sevilla didn’t need long after the restart tp score though. A corner ball came to Loic Bade who shouldered an effort over the head of De Gea to give the hosts a firm grip on the match.
Things got worse for United’s goalkeeper when, late in the game, he stormed out of his box, miscontrolled the ball and gave En-Nesyri an open goal to secure the win and a spot in the semi-finals.

22 mins: Sevilla’s pressing game has been exceptional tonight. Man Utd have hardly been able to string a couple of passes together when trying to get out from defence.
Casemiro is waving his arms around for his defenders to move the ball quicker, it’s all too easy for the hosts at the minute.

20 mins: Marcos Acuna drives down the left wing and whips a deep cross into the box to Lucas Ocampos. Ocampos brings it down nicely and takes on Diogo Dalot who’s playing at left-back tonight.
Dalot holds him up well and blocks the ball out of play but the referee awards a goal kick. That’s the second time Sevilla have been robbed of a corner.

17 mins: Rakitic decides to take the free kick himself and blazes it into the wall. The rebound comes back out to him but Casemiro charges down his second effort as well.
United then storm up the pitch and Antony dribbles to the byline before winning a free kick as his cross is blocked by a handball.

14 mins: There seems to be a lack of confidence in the United players. It’s as though this group aren’t as attuned to each other as they should be.
Wan-Bissaka brings down Rakitic about 25 yards out from goal. Big chance coming up for Sevilla.

11 mins: The good news for Man Utd is that they have plenty of time to reduce the deficit once more. The mistake will shake United’s already shaky defence though.

8 mins: Shockingly poor from Man Utd! They look to play out from the back and David De Gea sends Harry Maguire down the river. He gives the defender the ball as three white shirt press him.
Maguire’s attempted pass out is blocked by Erik Lamela who nudges the ball to Youssef En-Nesyri. The striker just has De Gea to beat and guides the ball into the bottom corner.
Sevilla take the lead.

6 mins: Marcel Sabitzer takes a knock and needs a moment on the sidelines to recover himself. Christian Eriksen swings the resultant free kick into the penalty area but Yassine Bounou is free to punch the ball away.
Man Utd didn’t have the runners attacking the six-yard box.

3 mins: Ivan Rakitic comes down the left side for Sevilla and takes on Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He gets to the byline and knocks the ball out of play off the Man Utd defender.
The referee awards the visitors a goal kick though which the Sevilla midfielder isn’t all too pleased about.

The 43,000 seater stadium is packed. The Sevilla fans were asked to dress in the club colour and there is a circle of white surrounding the pitch.
It’s an imposing sight for Manchester United and they’ll need to silence this crowd in order to get themselves into the game.
United get the ball rolling for this second leg.
