Tottenham's title hopes suffered a damaging blow as Wolves came from behind to win 3-1 at Wembley.
Spurs had looked like piling the pressure on leaders Liverpool in the Premier League title race after Harry Kane celebrated his new year MBE in style with a brilliant first-half strike.
But Wolves had other ideas and enjoyed a memorable first visit to the new national stadium as goals from Willy Boly, Raul Jimenez and Helder Costa in the final 18 minutes gave them a deserved three points.
It was a game too far for Spurs, whose relentless run of fixtures finally caught up with them, and they could now end the weekend nine points behind Jurgen Klopp's side.
Re-live the action below:
Missed penalty! (Maddison)
Leicester could have gone in front against Cardiff but James Maddison sees his penalty saved!
78 min: Right now there doesn't seem to be much sense of Tottenham getting a winner – if anything, Wolves look the more likely of the two teams.
Missed penalty! (Kamara)
Another spot-kick saved, this time Huddersfield's Lossl getting down to stop Fulham striker Aboubakar Kamara. What a crucial save that might be in the relegation battle.
GOAL! Tottenham 1-2 Wolves (Jimenez)
Extraordinary scenes at Wembley! Spurs have utterly capitulated. Raul Jimenez collects the ball on the edge of the box on a counter-attack and fires a low shot inside the post. Surely Hugo Lloris should have kept it out?
GOAL! Watford 1-1 Newcastle (Doucoure)
The Hornets are level thanks to a man in form, Abdoulaye Doucoure.
GOAL! Tottenham 1-3 Wolves (Costa)
A bizarre game is surely over now. Spurs have been tame in this second half. It comes from another counter-attack: Doherty released Costa who surged through and slotted the ball past Hugo Lloris.
GOAL! Fulham 1-0 Huddersfield (Mitrovic)
Fulham have done it! A huge three points for Claudio Ranieri.
GOAL! Leicester 0-1 Cardiff (Camarasa)
Camarasa bends in a winner at the King Power! It's a brilliant strike, and Cardiff's surge up the table goes on.
Full-time: Fulham 1-0 Huddersfield
A vitally important late winner at Craven Cottage sees Huddersfield stay rooted to the bottom.
Full-time: Tottenham 1-3 Wolves
What an extraordinary afternoon at Wembley. Spurs look fairly comfortable in the first 45 minutes but the second half was a different story. A blow to Spurs and a great result for the league leaders, Liverpool.
