Tottenham's title hopes suffered a damaging blow as Wolves came from behind to win 3-1 at Wembley.
Spurs had looked like piling the pressure on leaders Liverpool in the Premier League title race after Harry Kane celebrated his new year MBE in style with a brilliant first-half strike.
But Wolves had other ideas and enjoyed a memorable first visit to the new national stadium as goals from Willy Boly, Raul Jimenez and Helder Costa in the final 18 minutes gave them a deserved three points.
It was a game too far for Spurs, whose relentless run of fixtures finally caught up with them, and they could now end the weekend nine points behind Jurgen Klopp's side.
Re-live the action below:
Second half! We're back on at Wembley. Let's be honest, the first half was pretty atrocious. Let's hope for better in the second.
50 min: Spurs are pushing for a second here, and Wolves' biggest vulnerability is actually daring to attack, leaving the door open for counters. Son tries to break but can't quick find Sissoko with the last pass this time.
55 min: Eriksen teases a cross over Patricio, who flaps unconvincingly in the air and needs Matt Doherty behind him to clear up the mess.
GOAL! Brighton 1-0 Everton (Locadia)
Jurgen Locadia puts the Seagulls in front at the Amex!
62 min: Wolves come forward down the left wing and Jonny wins a throw-in, but immediately gives the ball back to Spurs. This is not the Wolves who have fought so well against leading opposition so far this season.
67 min: Lucas Moura replaces Dele Alli in Spurs' first change.
70 min: A better spell by Wolves, who are pinning Spurs back and creating a few half-chances, but they are not quite able to carve out something that will test Hugo Lloris.
GOAL! Tottenham 1-1 Wolves (Boly)
It had been coming. Boly gets up for an almost-free header at a corner and suddenly Wolves are level! Moutinho got the assist with the outswinger from the right.
