Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

GOAL! Spurs 1-3 Manchester City (Sterling, 72)
Raheem Sterling gets his goal!
Hugo Lloris can only parry Gabriel Jesus' close-range shot and Raheem Sterling gobbles up the rebound as he lashes the ball into the roof of the net from just a couple of yards out.
75' - Raheem Sterling has another chance after being sent through on goal by Kevin De Bruyne but this time he's thwarted by a last-ditch Davinson Sanchez challenge.
Moments later Pep Guardiola makes a substitution as Bernardo Silva comes on in place of Gabriel Jesus.
80' - That third City goal really seems to have taken the wind out of Spurs' sails. The energy has gone out of their play and now it is the visitors who are on top.
83' - Dele Alli attempts to shape one into the top corner from the edge of the box but his effort deflects off Vincent Kompany and out for a corner, which comes to nothing for the visitors.
