From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

West Ham will be hoping that history repeats itself as they welcome Tottenham to the London Stadium for the day’s 12.30pm kick-off. Slaven Bilic kept himself in a job after the Hammers surprised Spurs towards the end of last season – but will they able to do so again? Read more on the finer intricacies of the match here.
Elsewhere, Burnley take on Huddersfield while Everton host strugglers Bournemouth.
The two Manchester clubs are in action, with United travelling to Southampton and City lining up against Palace.

Goal!
Everton 0-1 Bournemouth
Bournemouth are in front at Goodison. Josh King receives the ball from Charlie Daniels and slots the ball into the bottom corner. Problems here for Ronald Koeman and Everton.
Southampton 0-1 Manchester United
Southampton have a big chance to draw themselves level, Jose Mourinho will not be happy with the way Oriol Romeu found space in the box.
Goal!
Manchester City 2-0 Crystal Palace
Raheem Sterling doubles the lead and perhaps put Manchester City out of Crystal Palace's reach. Leroy Sane finds the winger in the box and Sterling taps it in.
Goal!
Swansea 1-1 Watford
Wilfired Bony has a shot well saved by Heurelho Gomes but the ball falls to Tammy Abraham who scores.
Goal!
Manchester City 3-0 Crystal Palace
It's another goal for Raheem Sterling who has had a very good start to this season. A glorious pass from Kevin De Bruyne finds Sergio Aguero who cuts it back to Sterling who taps in his second.
Everton 0-1 Bournemouth
Moans and groans from the Everton fans are growing louder with each minute that goes on without a goal. They have 25 minutes to avoid their fifth defeat of the season.
Burnley 0-0 Huddersfield
I'd hesitate to call this one a classic. Huddersfield are looking most likely to break the deadlock with Tom Ince coming closet with a low drive inches wide of the post.
Everton 0-1 Bournemouth
Everton would have been level but for Andrew Surman's goal-line clearance. Mason Holgate flicked on the ball from a corner which was heading goal bound but the score remains 0-1.
