From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

What a day in the Premier League. So far we've had 21 goals in seven games but we're not finished yet. Up next is Leicester against Liverpool and, without wishing to jinx things, there should be goals in this one.
This evening is a repeat of Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash which Leicester won 2-0. After the game Jurgen Klopp said he was "sick" of conceding sloppy goals. I imagine he may have used more colourful language to his players in private, so will we see a better performance at the back, or will it be same old Liverpool?
Leicester's bad deal from the fixture computer has already seen them face Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, losing each game. The Foxes are 16th in the table and a win this evening will really kick-start their campaign.
The players are making their way onto the pitch and the King Power stadium is up for this one. Kick-off minutes away.
1 min: Anthony Taylor blows his whistle and Leicester get us underway.
2 min: Liverpool open up Leicester and work the ball to Emre Can who crosses from the byline and Kasper Schmeichel mops up.
5 mins: Jamie Vardy received the ball from Shinji Oka and flies down the left and and tries to beat Simon Mignolet at the near post but his shot is saved. Riyad Mahrez latches onto the follow up and shoots over.
