From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Pep Guardiola’s men have already been confirmed as champions so a victory this weekend would be the perfect way to round off a fantastic week.
It is not going to be an easy task though as they come up against a Swans side still battling for survival in the Premier League.

What time is it?
The match kicks off on Sunday at 4:30pm.
Where can I watch it?
The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event.
It’s a big game for…
Swansea. Currently sitting five points clear of the relegation zone, Carlos Carvalhal’s men could extend the gap between themselves and the drop zone if they take anything from the game.
Also, with both Stoke City and Southampton not in Premier League action this weekend, it could be a real opportunity to ramp up the pressure.
Best stat…
Swansea have lost their last three games at the Etihad Stadium by the same scoreline. The Welsh outfit have fallen to a 2-1 defeat on each of their last three visits to face the Citizens.
Player to watch…
Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian has returned from injury in great form. The 21-year-old has netted three goals in his last four games in all competitions. He also scored two in the 2-1 home win over the Swans last season.

2 mins: City, unsurprisingly, are dominating possession in the early stages. Will we see them run riot today?
6 mins: City have Swansea penned into their own half and they don't look like leaving it any time soon. This could be a long day at the office for the visitors.
9 mins: City have probed again. David Silva made space for Bernardo Silva, but the latter's lofted cross evades everyone.
11 mins: GOAL!
MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 SWANSEA
Sterling pulls the ball back for David Silva who pokes home with ease!
15 mins: GOAL!
MANCHESTER CITY 2-0 SWANSEA
City are just having a bit of fun today. They're flooding the wide areas to create space through the middle. Delph gets it back from a one-two with Silva and Sterling pokes home the Englishman's cross. Easy.
19 mins: I can't remember when Swansea last had the ball in City's half. The Premier League record win is 9-0 and City could well be aiming for that today...
