Manchester City welcome Antonio Conte's Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium in what should be one of the stand-out fixtures of the season so far.

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The two sides are separated by a single point, with the Blues sitting pretty at the top of the league on 31 points and City a single point behind on 30.

Victory will hand either side a massive boost in their title campaigns as the two continue to set the pace for the rest of the league.

Pep Guardiola's men have the opportunity to overtake their London rivals, but to do so would require breaking down Chelsea's seemingly impenetrable defence.

Conte's defence has conceded just one goal in their last seven games as the side continues to thrive under the coach's new formation.

But with the home advantage, City will know that today is their opportunity to strike and stake their claim for that top spot.

RED CARD (x2)

A horrendous challenge from Aguero on Luiz has resulted in an on field scrap between the sides. Chalobah comes flying to defend his team mate, and the Chelsea players react in a similar fashion.

Luiz looks in pain, but it comes of no surprise after that challenge.

Fernandinho pushes Fabregas over the advertising boards, and because of this he is guided down the tunnel by his team officials and rewarded a red card for his efforts.

FULL TIME

Aside from the nonsense at the end, it was a tremendous fixture to watch between two great sides. Chelsea thoroughly deserve the three points and should be saluted for a comeback of such style and class. It was a test of their resilience, but they came out on top and showed why they are topping. That's eight wins in a row for the table toppers and following that performance, it's easy to see why.

City showed glimpses of brilliance throughout, but the number of missed chances proved crucial as they failed to create any real gap between the two clubs.

Chelsea remain at the top.

TOTTENHAM 0 - 0 SWANSEA

Walker has gone to ground following a boot to the face from Taylor. It's a horrendous looking incident. The stretcher looks like it's on its way.

STOKE 0 - 0 BURNLEY

It's a great chance at the Britannia, Martins Indi is just yards out and he heads a crossed ball, but he's denied by the woodwork. He should have scored from there and given his side the early advantage. It's a shocking miss.

SUNDERLAND 0 - 0 LEICESTER

Wantmore makes a great run and then knocks it in to Defoe, but it's a brave block by Morgan. The home side are dominating, so far.

WEST BROM 1 - 0 WATFORD

Evans has done it, he's given the home side the advantage! The set piece from Brunt flies into the box, Evans leaps high and heads the ball into the back of net. Gomes should have come out and claimed that, but the West Brom player came out on top.

STOKE 1 - 0 BURNLEY

Stoke have took the lead! It's a great build up down the right hand side, with Johnson getting forward and Walters breaking the deadlock. The ball came in awkwardly, but the striker manages to connect and he glides the ball into the net at the far post.

SUNDERLAND 0 - 0 LEICESTER

Wantmore goes for goal from the edge of the box, but it's a weak attempt. However, the home side continue to dominate at the Stadium of Light.

Mahrez isn't pulling his weight today and it doesn't look like he will last much longer out there. He's not tracking back and so far, it's a selfish display from the Algerian.
