Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Huddersfield Town missed a chance to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone when they were held to a 1-1 home draw by West Ham United in an entertaining clash on Saturday.

The result left Huddersfield second-bottom on seven points from 12 games, a point behind Cardiff City, Southampton and Crystal Palace, who were later hosting Tottenham Hotspur.

Alex Pritchard gave Huddersfield a sixth-minute lead with a scuffed shot from 16 metres which somehow trickled past West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski before Felipe Anderson levelled for the London side with a fine 74th-minute goal.

Pritchard rued allowing West Ham to get back into the match.

18 min: Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

It has been a lively start to proceedings at St James' Park following Rondon's first Premier League goal for Rafael Benitez's side.

Bournemouth as yet have yet to reply

Looks like Rondon's strike wasn't the only landmark goal.

GOAL! Southampton 1-0 Watford (Gabbiadini 20')

That's a goal Southampton desperately needed. Wesley Hoedt is superbly denied by Ben Foster, but the resulting corner sees the Italian prods home after Watford fail to clear it.

His first goal in 13 months at St Mary's.

22 min: Leicester 0-0 Burnley

Unfortunate for Rachid Ghezzal! He latches onto to a Marc Albrighton cross but his stooping header comes off the bar with Joe Hart comfortably beaten.

24 min: Huddersfield 1-0 West Ham

Marko Arnautovic goes down after being caught on the ankle. He does eventually get back up but nothing is done despite his complaints.

No sort of response as yet from the visitors in an attacking sense.

Italian job.

27 min: Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Nasty injury for Adam Smith here, and it sees Charlie Daniels replace his injured teammate.

Smith went down clutching his knee after trying to take a free-kick quickly. It looks like a bad one and it did stop the game for six minutes.

29 min: Huddersfield 1-0 West Ham

It is very much a duel of Mounie vs Fabianski today, and the Pole comes to the Hammers' rescue again with a save from the Huddersfield striker as they give the ball away cheaply in their own half.

31 min; Southampton 1-0 Watford

Roberto Pereyra has been one of Watford's best attacking outlets this season, and he penetrates the Southamnpton box here before the Saints get numbers back and hack the ball away.

That is before Deulofeu is denied again by McCarthy from a tight angle.

Another serious injury for an Englishman this week it seems.
