Manchester City: A look back at 2018

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Manchester City kept pace with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League as they breezed past Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Danilo, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane proved far too much for the managerless Terriers, who remain 10 points from safety at the bottom of the league. City, meanwhile, move within four of the league leaders.

Here's how it played out:

33 mins: Fulham 1 - 0 Spurs

Fulham whip a corner into the box but Tottenham take control of the ball and break quickly sending it down the right wing. The next pass is way too heavy and the ball goes out of play.

Tottenham have a corner now, Vertonhen puts it into the area and Mitrovic heads it clear. Winks brings it back into Fulham's half before Rose gets free down the left. He puts it into the box and Llorente puts the ball wide of goal.

Great chance for Fulham! Christie gets the ball in the middle of the pitch just right of goal. He puts the ball into the box and Babel raises above everyone and wins the header putting it juts over the bar.

42 mins: Fulham 1 - 0 Spurs

It's in! Or is it? Babel whips the ball into the box from the left and Schurrle meets it on the volley forcing Lloris into a diving save, Mitrovic heads the rebound into the net but is ruled offside!

44 mins: Fulham 1 - 0 Spurs

Babel gets another sight on goal, the cross comes in from a corner. The corner is cleared but Fulham work the ball in low to Babel who shoots and wins another corner. Fulham right on top now.

45 mins: Fulham 1 - 0 Spurs

Both teams have had their moments but Fulham have looked the more threatening side. A fluke deflection of Llorente gives Fulham the lead but by the looks of the first half there could be goals to come in this match yet.

SECOND HALF: Fulham 1 - 0 Spurs

Spurs get the match restarted, they pump the ball long but Fulham get it clear.

48 mins: Fulham 1 - 0 Spurs

Tottenham were under pressure towards the end of the first half, so they've come out in this 45 minuts looking to control possession and so far they're achieving that.

51 mins: Fulham 1 - 1 Spurs - Alli

Fulham gift Spurs an equaliser. Ream makes a mistake trying to clear the ball and it comes to Eriksen. Eriksen puts the ball into the box and Dele Alli finds the back of the net with a good header.
