From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Gonzalo Higuain gave the visitors a 20th minute lead, which was cancelled out eight minutes later by Calum Chambers.
However, Jorginho’s 31st minute goal won it for the visitors – but there was late drama as Kepa Arrizabalaga saved an Aleksandar Mitrovic header, before Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon saw a late effort disallowed.
The win takes Maurizio Sarri’s side to within two points of the top four.
A win with their game in hand, against Brighton, will lift them above fourth placed Man United.

Leicester look incredibly vulnerable at the back so far again, and this time it is Pereyra who is played through but Schmeichel is out quickly to clear.
A sluggish start from the Foxes if we're being honest here.

Good reaction from the visitors though.
Barnes has got into some decent position in the box after some lackluster Watford defending, but they have managed to shut the door just the time.

Jamie Vardy has been in the wars the last couple of minutes.
He is brought down for a free-kick by Adrian Mariappa following a poor touch from the Watford man.
The resulting free-kick is cheekily chipped in by Maddison into the forward's path, but Ben Foster comes out and clears but collides with him and both are down receiving treatment for facial injuries.

That's a big chance for Barnes.
An excellent crossfield switch from Tielemans finds Chilwell, who first time plays an accurate low ball into the box.
It finds Barnes but he cannot sort his feet out and it goes harmlessly out for a goal kick.

Both players have been able to continue, but here is that collision between the two.
It's been similarly as tenacious on the rest of the pitch as Leicester are really starting to fight their way back into the match.

Another sighting of Antonio Conte in the stands with glasses that make him look more like a civil servant than someone who led Chelsea to a league title.
He does look smart though, more tidy than some of the play on the field right now, with loud jeers coming from the crowd after some misplaced passes from the visitors.

Deulofey looks to join his striking partner in scoring today, and after swiftly cutting inside from the left he fires at goal, but the shot is straight at Schmeichel.
The Hornets seem to have staved off the Leicester fightback for now.
