From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

With the Premier League set to get underway next weekend, City and Chelsea will play out the traditional fixture at Wembley for the first trophy of the season, although its importance this year has been even more diminished by the absence of many World Cup stars as they enjoy a much-deserved holiday.
City are set to be without a number of players, including star midfielders Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, but could hand a full debut to £60m summer signing Riyad Mahrez, while Chelsea are set to feature Jorginho for the first time. Eden Hazard remains an absentee though as he remains on holiday along with the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud, while Willian remains AWOL following what he claimed were “passport problems” that delayed his return from Brazil.

Prediction
Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea: Both sides are expected to field weaker sides, but having not been overly active in the transfer market the players should already have a strong bond together. City’s defence is about as full-strength as it can be that should see them prevail, and with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus fit, they should have no problem finding the back of the net.
6 mins: Bernardo Silva looking lively early on. His pull back alludes both Aguero and Mahrez, before he's felled for Mahrez to take a free kick for City around 30 yards out. His effort is blocked by the Chelsea wall
8 mins: Callum Hudson-Odoi gets his first chance to run at Kyle Walker, but cuts inside and gets swamped by City defenders, and Fernandinho recovers to nick possession back.
10 mins: Manchester City's right side is one full of pace and trickery in the form of Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez and they are looking bright early on. Aguero almost had a chance first with a scuffed shot, and then from a Mendy cross, but looks a tad short of sharpness, to be expected with the season yet to start
GOAL! 13 mins: Chelsea 0-1 Manchester City (Sergio Aguero)
Aguero picks his spot from the edge of the box into the corner, and nutmegs Rudiger in the process. Great work from Phil Foden who picks up the assist, with his usual fearless running as Chelsea backed off and allowed him far too much space.
15 mins: Kyle Walker heads behind for a Chelsea corner under pressure from Alvaro Morata which comes to nothing, City try and break but Chelsea win a free kick, which Bravo flaps at but eventually gets clear
21 mins: Albeit against quality opposition in Manchester City, Chelsea look particularly vulnerable defensively and that's something Chelsea will need to improve on quickly with less than a week until the Premier League kicks off. David Luiz getting another chance after falling out of favour with Conte, but still takes a second too long on the ball and looks uncertain
24 mins: A Sane heavy touch stops City doubling their advantage, after Jorginho slips inside his own half, Caballero came out well to smother.
Chelsea very quiet going forward, with Morata and Hudson-Odoi hardly featuring in the game at all. Plenty to think about for Sarri on the touchline
