From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Arsenal, Liverpool and defending champions Leicester City, on the other hand, all have reason to be disappointed with their starts. Can they make amends on a busy day of action?

West Bromwich Albion vs Middlesbrough - 1.30pm
Manchester City vs West Ham United - 4.00pm
Marcus Rashford’s late, late goal at Hull ensures Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are three from three for the season as a new dawn continues to break over Old Trafford. The Red Devils are only kept off the top of the table by Chelsea, who also have a 100% record under their new manager, Antonio Conte, after they took Burnley apart at Stamford Bridge.
There were home wins for the champions Leicester and Everton while Arsenal finally got their season up and running following a comprehensive first half performance at Watford.
Elsewhere, Tottenham and Liverpool shared the spoils in the day’s early game in a 1-1 draw, and it was a similar story at Southampton where Sunderland were held by a late Jay Rodriguez goal.
That’s all from us at Indy HQ for today, but I’ll be back tomorrow with live coverage of two more Premier League matches. The action begins at the Hawthorns where West Bromwich Albion host Middlesbrough – yeah, I can’t wait either – before Manchester City take on West Ham at the Etihad Stadium. Until then, thanks for being with us and goodnight.
