From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea have the chance to restore their nine-point lead over the rest of the Premier League when they take on Bournemouth on Boxing Day at Stamford Bridge, with Manchester City not playing until the evening kick-off and Liverpool in action on Tuesday night. Antonio Conte's side are on an impressive 11-match winning streak in the league, but face their toughest test yet as both Diego Costa and N'Golo Kante are ruled out of today's match through suspension. Bournemouth meanwhile sit tenth in the Premier League table and can move ahead of both West Bromwich Albion and Everton if they secure a surprise victory.

Vital information…
Kick-off time: 3.00pm
TV: Highlights on BBC One, 10.55pm
28mins: City continue to have possession and move the ball around tidily but seem to be lacking a real presence up front. They may need to be patient against a well-organised Hull defence.
33mins: Nice interplay from City on the edge of Hull's area finds Nolito but his effort rolls harmlessly into Marshall's arms. The Scotland goalkeeper hasn't had much to worry about so far.
38mins: More frustration for City. Guardiola must be counting down the seconds until he gets Aguero back. This time Sterling twists and turns away from his man and fires his effort high and wide.
40mins: City continue to waist chances and Hull almost make them pay. Snodgrass breaks clear down the right flank and his low cross is cut out well before Clucas can prod it home at the near post.
HT Hull City 0-0 Man City
It's been a frustrating first half here at the KCOM as both sides struggle to create anything in front of goal. City have dominated possession but haven't looked dangerous enough going forward to threaten the relegation strugglers. The home side, on the other hand, will be pleased with their first half performance. Hull have been well organised and restricted City to half chances so far. Guardiola will expect more from his star-studded squad after the break.
