From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

63 mins: Chelsea 3 - 0 Brighton - Loftus-Cheek
Hazard and Loftus-Cheek combine for Chelsea again.
Loftus-Cheek bends a 25-yarder right into the top corner of the goal in much the same way as Hazard just scored.
Eden Hazard with the assist this time.
Man City 2 - 0 Cardiff
Neil Etheridge will have sore hands in the morning. He's denied Phil Foden three times in the last ten minutes or so. City have had 23 shots already and Etheridge has made 9 saves.
69 mins: Tottenham 1 - 0 Crystal Palace
Harry Winks gets to put some match time in as he replaces Danny Rose for Spurs.
Man City 2 - 0 Cardiff
Niasse squeezes a toe poked shot towards Ederson who smothers it easily enough. An ironic cheer goes up from the Man City fans as that's Cardiff's first shot on goal, 73 minutes into the game.
75 mins: Chelsea 3 - 0 Brighton
Double change for Brighton, Florin Andone goes off as Glenn Murray comes on. Bernardo replaces Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
Chelsea bring on Zappacosta as Azpilicueta goes off.
80 mins: Tottenham 2 - 0 Crystal Palace - Eriksen
It's going to be a winning start for Tottenham in their new stadium. Andros Townsend loses the ball and sends Spurs bombing forward. Kane gets the ball into the box and is taken down, everyone looks to the referee for the penalty. Everyone except Eriksen who collects the ball and slots it home from close range.
Man City 2 - 0 Cardiff
Cardiff have their best chance on goal! They break quickly on the counter attack with Mendez-Laing and Niasse.
Mendez-Laing sends the ball to Niasse who only has to beat Ederson but the Man City goalkeeper is quick off his line and he makes the save.
That's it, it's all over victories for Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham! No big rewards if you had that on a treble.
Here's the results:
Chelsea 3 - 0 Brighton
Man City 2 - 0 Cardiff
Tottenham 2 - 0 Crystal Palace
