Aston Villa will take on Fulham on Sunday evening and there’s good news for the hosts as they are likely to see the return of Jack Grealish.

Grealish has been sidelined with a leg injury but he returned to training this week and it looks as though he will start in the crucial match.

Villa are in 11th place in the league and a win over the Cottagers could put them back into the top half. A victory would also bring an end to their recent winless streak, as the last time they tasted victory in a Premier League match was back in February against Leeds United.

The likelihood of Villa claiming a win is helped by the Cottagers’ own recent poor form and risk of relegation. 18th-placed Fulham have only won one match in their last five in the league and the return of Grealish could help Villa make sure it continues that way.

Manager Dean Smith said of Grealish returning: “We still have to manage him obviously to make sure his loading is not too much.

“But his tolerance levels are really good with whatever pain is there at the moment. And obviously we’ve had scans that have come back really positive as well. So he’s looking forward now to getting back to his best.”

Team news

For Villa, Jack Grealish could return as he was training this week following an injury and there’s more good news for The Claret and Blue as Kortney Hause could also be back.

However, Wesley will not play due to a knee injury.

While for Fulham, Tom Cairney remains absent but Parker will hope to see the return of Bobby Decordova-Reid and Marek Rodak.

Predicted line-ups

Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett; Luiz, McGinn; Traore, Barkley, Grealish; Watkins

Fulham: Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Reed, Anguissa; Reid, Loftus-Cheek, Lookman; Mitrovic

Odds

Aston Villa: 5/4

Draw: 23/10

Fulham: 23/10

Prediction

Fulham are desperate for a win and this may get in the way of their performance. Villa have the slight upper hand with the return of Grealish but if Mitrovic can find his form Fulham will also be in with a chance. Both sides have had similar form of late and with players returning this fixture will be full of action. Aston Villa 2-1 Fulham.
