Poland and Netherlands battle it out in Hamburg, with France and Austria also contending in Group D
Netherlands beat Poland to begin day three at Euro 2024 in exciting fashion, with Wout Weghorst scoring the late winner after the Dutch were forced to come from behind.
Despite starting strongly, Ronald Koeman’s side conceded the opener through Adam Buksa’s header, before Cody Gakpo - the standout performer in the first half - equalised via a big deflection. The second 45 minutes was a more even affair until the strength in depth on Netherlands’ bench started to show, and Weghorst netted the winner a few minutes from full time.

Ake picks the ball up on the left and drives towards the box before slipping in a pass. It’s deflected into the path of Wout Weghorst, who’s only just come on, but he takes it first time as it comes across his body to fire it low past Szczesny.

Szczesny does well to react quickly to come off his line and collects a long ball that had been destined for Frimpong.

Poland win a corner, and Swiderski delivers, but the Netherlands manage to head it out before Verbruggen collects the follow-up cross.
The Netherlands make two changes: Gakpo is replaced by Wout Weghorst, while Depay comes off for Jeremie Frimpong.

Dumfries remains a threat down the right and he clips in another dangerous cross, but there’s nobody in a blue shirt to reach the knock down.
70’ - Poland 1-1 Netherlands
A good combination from the Dutch as Malen drives at the Poland defence. His touch is heavy but it runs to Depay, who tries to take it around the defender, but his touch lands at the feet of Dumfries, whose half-pass, half-shot ends up being blocked by Szczesny.
69’ - Poland 1-1 Netherlands
Brilliant from Reijnders, who slips it through to the unmarked Schoeten in the box. He tries to cut it back to Depay, but his touch is poor and the chance gets away from him.
