Nottingham Forest vs West Ham United
West Ham have not won a game when conceding the opening goal in the Premier League this season, compared to Forest who have not lost when scoring the opening goal this season in the division. The Hammers will have to do it against the odds with only 10 men reappearing for the second half. Something has to change in the West Ham approach if they are to get something out of this match, whereas Forest and their fans will want more of the same.
Nottingham Forest vs West Ham United
Nottingham Forest deservedly lead 1-0 at the break, as they have looked the more dangerous out of the two sides, with West Ham offering little to nothing in that first half, their first shot coming in added time. Compared to Forest who have had 10 efforts with two of them on target, giving them an xG of 1.4 to West Ham’s 0.06. The tactical approach of Forest has been perfect, looking to be direct in their attack as they have only had 40 percent of the ball, with their goal coming in the 27th minute, as Wood grabbed his eighth Premier League goal this season as he cushioned a head home from a lovely Moreno cross from the byline to the six-yard box. West Ham have been poor but almost snatched an equaliser in the 46th minute from a Paqueta effort that was deflected wide on the line by Wood, before their task got harder a minute later when Alvarez earned his second yellow to be sent off in the final seconds of the half for a foul on Elanga.

Paqueta cannot believe how he did not score. His effort from the edge of the penalty area was kept out on the line by a sliding Wood who deflected it wide of the post for a corner. The effort fell to the attacker after Kilman had headed the ball back across the area for a poor Forest clearance to land at his feet. Only Wood will know if he meant to clear the ball the way he did.

Forest have defended resolutely, as summed up by Aina on Summerville. The winger throwing every flick and trick at the full back but, he stuck to the task and won the ball back to clear from the danger.

West Ham cannot deal with the Forest pressure, they have momentarily abandoned their possession based approach to clear the ball long to relieve pressure.
