The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur

Ten-man Spurs make it two wins on the bounce with a 2-0 victory over Forest, which adds to the pressure on Steve Cooper. Forest created some good chances in the first half, but couldn't take them before conceding in first-half stoppage time when Richarlison thumped a header past Turner. The hosts thought they'd equalised through Elanga just before the hour mark but his rifled finish was ruled out for offside by VAR. Kulusevski then made sure of the points, beating Turner for power as the keeper couldn't keep out his shot. Bissouma was sent off in the 70th minute for a reckless, high challenge on Yates, and Vicario made two excellent blocks on his line to make sure that Spurs came away with the three points. Tottenham stay in fifth but move level on points with Manchester City above them. They host Everton in their next game. As for Forest, that's now six without a win for them, and they remain just five points above the drop zone. Next up for them is Bournemouth. That's all for today, goodbye!

GREAT SAVE! Vicario comes to Spurs' rescue again! Elanga takes it to the byline, but this time, his cross is deflected out to the far post. Yates meets it first time, but his shot across goal is blocked by the keeper on his line once more.

SAVE! Gibbs-White's corner is cleared at the near post, but it's worked back into the Spurs box. Danilo nods it down to Niakhate, who pokes it through to Elanga at the far post. His first-time shot is held by Vicario, but he was offside anyway.

BLOCK! Hojbjerg just breezes past Niakhate to play a one-two with Skipp before he squares it to Porro on the edge of the box. He takes aim, but Yates throws himself in front of it to deflect it out for a corner.

Toffolo is a little late in getting over to block Emerson's cross, catching the Brazilian. Forest aren't happy as he has his name taken by the referee.

Spurs are making their third change now, and Son is taking his time leaving the pitch. Emerson comes on in his place, with the visitors switching to a back five as they look to protect their clean sheet.

Spurs aren't happy as Skipp is down after being caught by Murillo, who hasn't long been booked. The defender just clipped the top of Skipp's foot as he tried to get the ball, and the visitors, led by Postecoglou, are asking why there isn't a second yellow card.
