This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Newcastle claim a huge 3-2 win at Forest and climb back into the top seven! The Magpies avenge their home defeat to the same side but were really made to work for it. Howe's side led three times, with Guimaraes, who netted the opener, proving the matchwinner. Elanga cancelled out Guimaraes' first, then Hudson-Odoi responded to Schar's fine strike. Forest could not recover a third time when Guimaraes struck once more, however, and Newcastle held on. They will host Bournemouth next week, when Forest at home again against West Ham. Gibbs-White goes close! It is far too chaotic for Newcastle's liking. Gordon tackles Gibbs-White but cannot play in Wilson, allowing Forest to respond. Elanga's low cross is just about cleared by Burn, before Gibbs-White shoots from outside the box and has Dubravka worried for a moment.
