From goals to roles, Ferdinand and Cole turn movie producers
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The film Dead Man Running, executively produced by Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole, was given a first screening last night.
The movie, which stars rapper 50 Cent, is a crime caper in which the lead Nick Kane has 24 hours to find £100,000 or feel the wrath of 'Fiddy'.

The England internationals were major contributors to the overall budget of around £3m, and the move marks the latest switch from sports field to movie studio.
Previous sports stars to have entered the film industry have included Manchester United legend Eric Cantona, who recently starred in the critically acclaimed Looking For Eric while former American Footballer OJ Simpson has appeared in a number of Hollywood movies.
How Ferdinand and Cole's project is received is impossible to predict. Previous ventures have had mixed fortunes, but you'll be able to judge for yourself on 30 August when Dead Man Running is released.
