The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Follow the latest action from the Premier League below.

Newcastle United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Newcastle take all three points with a superb three-goal showing at St. James’ Park, beating Wolves comprehensively 3-0. Isak put the hosts ahead with an opportunistic header following Guimaraes’ blocked shot, and Gordon would double their advantage 19 minutes later with a tap-in finish after Sa failed to claim the ball despite coming off his line. Without many senior attacking options from the bench and forced into two changes at the half - including one to his goalkeeper - O’Neil was unable to change the game in the second half, which allowed the Magpies to grow in confidence and possession. Howe’s side looked to control the remainder of the game and secure the clean sheet by forcing their opponents to chase, but Livramento’s incredible, mazey goal would add an unexpected third in injury time and seal the result. A first Premier League defeat since February 10 sees Wolves drop into 10th place ahead of a meeting with Fulham next Sunday, while seventh-placed Newcastle travel to play Chelsea in nine days. That concludes our commentary of the Premier League fixture between Newcastle United and Wolves- we hope you’ve enjoyed it!

Sarabia’s volley across the face of goal is whacked away by Schar, but only as far as Kilman, 20 yards from goal. The Wolves captain looks for the spectacular finish and strikes the ball with his left foot before it can bounce, but he sends his well-timed hit high and wide of the target.

Barnes looks to get forward down the left wing and challenge the defender but thinking twice, the substitute turns around and plays a simple pass back down the wing for Miley. With sights set on the three points and the clean sheet, it’s a prudent decision.
