This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Luton are sloppy in possession in their own half, with Newcastle winning it back on the left. Almiron collects it and attempts to curl an inviting cross into the box, but Kaminski rushes off his line to claim it.

Burn makes a mess of a heavy touch on the right and is put under pressure by Ogbene, who wins possession well in an advanced position. However, he cannot get away from Burn, with the defender quickly winning it back.

Adebayo runs down the left and wins Luton's first corner. Newcastle bring everyone back and load the box. Doughty finds Morris with an outswinging cross, but his tame header is caught with ease by Dubravka.

The battle between Ogbene and Burn on the right will be one to keep an eye on. The Luton winger is much quicker than the Magpies defender and is looking to go past him at every opportunity.

Ogbene is showing some real intent down the right. He bursts into the box and gets beyond his marker before cutting the ball back into the middle, but Schar clears it away for a throw-in.

Indeed, Luton could be just the second promoted side to do the double over the Magpies in the last seven seasons, after Leeds in 2020-21.
