The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Newcastle United vs Luton Town

Newcastle came from two goals down in the second half to draw 4-4 with Luton in a Premier League classic at St. James' Park. The Hatters twice came from behind before the break to level the score. Longstaff netted a brace, getting onto the end of Trippier's cutback to break the deadlock before reacting the quickest to a rebounded strike from Gordon to add his second. However, the Hatters were resilient. Osho headed in their first, with Barkley crashing in his strike from close range after Doughty's shot was pushed into his path. Luton then gained control after scoring twice to go 4-2 ahead. The referee pointed to the spot after a VAR check, with Burn pulling back Ogbene just inside the box. Morris rolled in the spot-kick to put the visitors in the lead before Adebayo added their fourth with a low strike into the bottom-left corner. However, they couldn't hold onto their lead. Trippier started the comeback with a goal, with Barnes netting their leveller with an accurate strike from the edge into the bottom-left corner. Next up, Newcastle travel to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, with Luton hosting Sheffield United. That's all, goodbye.
