This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace

The full-time whistle goes, as Newcastle return to winning ways with a resounding 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace! With the majority of the damage done via three first-half goals, the second period played out in much the same fashion, with the Magpies dominating the ball and most of the chances. Several Palace blocks denied them early on, but Eddie Howe's side struck their fourth on 66 minutes as Callum Wilson finished off a rapid-fire counter-attack. Almiron spurned a late opportunity to score a fifth for the Magpies, and while Palace produced half-chances through Guehi, Rak-Sakyi and Edoaurd, Pope was only tested by the latter's free-kick. Newcastle take all three points and climb to fifth in the table with the daunting task of facing Arsenal next up, while the Eagles remain 10th having now won, drawn and lost three each of their nine matches.

We're almost at the 90, with Newcastle closing in on a comfortable victory. That shaky opening few weeks which featured three straight losses now looks light years away, and with four wins in five about to be sealed, it's a good time for those in black and white.

Rak-Sakyi and Ward combine down the right as the latter fires a cross towards the back post, and despite being under no pressure whatsoever, Livramento's poor first touch gifts Palace a corner!

SAVED!!! The Eagles win a free-kick 25 yards out, and Edouard fancies his chances. The shot appears destined for the top corner, but Pope stretches and sticks out a big right hand to tip the ball past the post!

Palace are hardly laying a glove on Newcastle at the moment, and are largely chasing shadows at 4-0 down. Their inconsistent form this season looks set to continue, with the scoreline and manner of defeat surely a worry despite it only being their third of the campaign.
