Newcastle United vs Aston Villa
It's all over at St. James' Park, as Newcastle make it three one-sided victories on the spin with a 3-0 domination of Aston Villa on home soil! Already 1-0 up and cruising from the first half – with the visitors already down to 10 men due to Jhon Duran's straight red – the Magpies produced 2.62 xG as they looked to press home their advantage. Joelinton, Murphy and Isak all had chances to double the hosts' lead, before the latter duo combined to give Isak a tap-in and finally make it 2-0 on the hour. Further chances flowed as Isak and Guimaraes both had goals disallowed either side of Murphy hitting the bar, before Joelinton sealed the points with a well-placed finish in injury time. Newcastle made their advantage count and then some, against a Villa side who managed just 0.34 xG in total via Digne's blocked effort, and move up to fifth in the PRemier League table. Villa drop to ninth following a second loss in three, but it's the Magpies who march on with a perfect Boxing Day result!
