The Magpies now unbeaten in five, moving them into the top half of the Premier League. They now turn their attentions to the Champions League with a huge clash with Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain to come on Wednesday when they host the Ligue 1 champions at St James' Park. For Burnley, their dismal start continues, though they remain above the Blades after the Yorkshire side were beaten 2-0 away at West Ham. They travel to Luton Town on Tuesday looking to claim what could be a big three points against a side expected to be among those looking to avoid relegation.

The full-time whistle blows as Newcastle run out comfortable 2-0 victors after a solid display at St James' Park. They were nearly behind after just four minutes when Pope denied Amdouni, but the hosts dominated from that point on and took the lead with 14 minutes gone, Trippier taking the ball off Ramsey high up the pitch before Almiron arrowed home a superb finish. Howe's men struggled to find a second goal to kill the game off, but any potential for late nerves was banished 14 minutes from time as Isak coolly stroked home a penalty after Al Dakhil's rash challenge on Gordon. The visitors struggled to create much all game, and Newcastle easily saw out the remaining minutes for another three points.
