Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Ritchie scored his first Premier League goal since July 2020 to rescue a point for Newcastle in an enthralling 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at St. James' Park. Solanke created an xG of 1.31 in the first half but was twice denied at close range by Dubravka before making the most of a mistake from the goalkeeper to give the Cherries the lead. Dubravka slipped in possession in front of goal, giving Solanke the easiest of finishes. Gordon then slammed in a penalty after Smith pulled Schar in the box before Bournemouth regained the lead. Solanke turned provider, playing the ball down the right to Semenyo, who drilled his shot into the bottom-left corner. The visitors thought they had won for the first time in six matches. However, Ritchie crashed in his effort from close range moments after coming on to punish his former side. Next up, Newcastle travel to Arsenal in the Premier League, with the Gunners scoring 11 goals in their last two outings. As for Bournemouth, they host Manchester City before welcoming Leicester City in the FA Cup.

CHANCE! There is pure chaos in Newcastle's box, but Bournemouth cannot score. Tavernier's cross is punched as far as Scott, who does brilliantly to keep control of his first-time effort, driving his shot low towards the bottom-right corner. It goes past Dúbravka, but Schar is back to clear it away.

Newcastle are pushing for a late winner. Botman rises to try and head in a cross from Schar, but he cannot turn it towards the goal. The Magpies recycle possession and Guimaraes collects it on the edge, dribbling past a defender before curling a right-footed effort straight at Neto.

Solanke drives forward on the counter and approaches the edge of the box, but doesn't know what to do in possession. He tries to dribble through a crowd of defenders but is tackled.
