Manchester United made two changes for Sunday’s Premier League match against rock-bottom Southampton. Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka came in for Fred and Diogo Dalot following Thursday’s 4-1 win against Real Betis in the Europa League.
Charly Alcaraz was passed fit to start for Southampton, who made one alteration as Romain Perraud replaced Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Good defending! Now Sulemana breaks in behind on the Southampton left and shoots from a narrow angle. He makes a good connection, but Varane chases back to throw himself in front of the shot. Southampton have looked menacing on that side in the first 29 minutes.

Southampton win a couple of corners in quick succession. While Weghorst and Varane are on hand to clear, United are in a game here, Southampton should be ahead!

GREAT SAVE BY DE GEA! The Spaniard keeps the scores level! Wan-Bissaka's poor clearance finds Perraud, and his left-wing cross is perfectly placed for Walcott to attack it six yards out. He powers a header toward goal, but De Gea reacts to tip it over!

Now Southampton find space near the edge of the United area, but Walcott's cut-back towards Alcaraz is intercepted by Varane. It's been an end-to-end start here, with both sides finding space on the break.

Shaw and Rashford lead a United counter-attack following an excellent ball from Casemiro. However, Shaw's loose touch allows Walcott in, and he promptly fouls the Southampton man.
