Manchester United vs Everton LIVE: Premier League result and final score after Fernandes and Rashford goals
United kept their faint top-four hopes alive with a win over relegation-threatened Everton
Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League as a pair of first-half penalties, both won by Alejandro Garnacho, helped Erik ten Hag’s side to a 2-0 victory over beleaguered Everton at Old Trafford.
Injury-hit United were sloppy throughout the contest but were gifted two spot-kicks through Everton mistakes. Garnacho was first kicked by Everton captain James Tarkowski in the box before the winger was tripped by Ben Godfrey. Bruno Fernandes put the first penalty past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford before United changed their taker for the second, with Marcus Rashford successfully converting against his England teammate.
Everton never looked like scoring as their winless run extended to 11 games in the Premier League, deepening the club’s relegation fears. United remain sixth but victory was needed to get their top-four push back on track, following defeats to Fulham and Manchester City.
