Man City look to move back to the top of the Premier League as they host Brentford
Brentford completed a stunning victory over Manchester City in their final game before the World Cup. It has been decades since the Bees beat City away from home but they started brilliantly with two great chances inside the opening 10 minutes for Frank Onyeka and Ivan Toney.
The breakthrough came through a long free kick as Ben Mee won the initial ball and nodded it up to Toney in the box where Brentford’s captain headed the Bees in front. The visitors then sat back and looked to defend their lead up to the break but Man City burst into life. They dominated possession and built momentum on the edge of the Brentford penalty area. Kevin De Bruyne then swung a corner into the path of Phil Foden who smashed City back level just before half-time.
An injury to Aymeric Laporte early in the second half meant that 10 minutes of stoppage time were added on at the end as City pushed for a late winner. Brentford kept the faith though and committed men up the pitch during a rapid counter-attack that saw Josh Dasilva feed Toney the ball and the striker calmly turned it home for a historic win.

36 mins: The corner is headed clear but big Dan Burn and Newcastle manage to recover the ball. They bring it over to the right before sweeping up the pitch.
Kieran Trippier sends the ball into the box but Conor Gallagher is back to help defend for Chelsea.

33 mins: Newcastle’s pressing has been impressive so far. Kalidu Koulibaly barely has time to control the ball before the home players are on top of him and the defender can only poke the ball out for a throw in.
At the other end Hall sends a pass down the wing and plays Mount in behind. The England forward carries the ball up to the edge of the box before flicking it into the middle but Newcastle shift it out for a corner.

30 mins: Jorginho gets booked for a late challenge on Bruno Guimaraes. He blatantly clips Guimaraes’ ankle as the midfielder attempted to get forward and set up a counter-attack.
Cynical tackle, rightly punished.

27 mins: Chance! Jorginho slides a forward pass up to Mason Mount who brings the ball into the Newcastle final third. He gives it to Lewis Hall and the teenager picks out Armando Broja in the box.
Broja shakes off his marker and manages to shoot on the spin. There’s no power behind his shot though and Nick Pope is left with an easy save.

24 mins: Newcastle have started to shift the momentum in their favour. They’re enjoying a period of possession inside Chelsea’s half and are getting the ball into the penalty area.
So far Chelsea are handling the pressure with Kalidu Koulibaly particularly commanding in the air.

21 mins: Koulibaly takes no prisoners as he comes in from behind to take the ball off Almiron in midfield. The Chelsea defender bungles into Almiron - who is looking for the foul - and both men hit the deck.
This is a good contest with neither side managing to get the better of the other yet.

18 mins: Mount and Hall combine again for Chelsea on the left side. They seem to be getting a fair bit of space on that wing. Mount carries the ball up the pitch before passing it across to Hall whose cross is whipped straight out of play.
The youngster gets a bit of jip from the crowd for that effort.

15 mins: Close! Lovely stuff from Joe Willock who is played in on the left wing. He takes the ball around Cesar Azpilicueta and flicks it over to the far post where Kalidu Koulibaly nods the ball away.
It drops to Almiron who has a shy on the volley but he boots his effort over the crossbar.

12 mins: Lewis Hall is making his Premier League debut for Chelsea today as some of their key players sit it out ahead of the World Cup. Hall impressed during the week against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup and has started well here.
He gets free down the left and is given the ball by Mason Mount. Hall sends one into the penalty area but doesn’t beat the defender and Newcastle clear.

9 mins: Miguel Almiron drives Newcastle up the pitch with a run down the inside right channel. He sends it across to Sean Longstaff who holds onto the ball too long before giving it to Kieran Trippier making an overlapping run.
Trippier is flagged offside before he can cross the ball.
