Follow live reaction as late goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah earned Liverpool a 2-0 victory at Inter Milan in their Champions League last-16 first leg on Wednesday.
Inter had the better of the first-half chances, with Hakan Calhanoglu firing against the crossbar when afforded too much time in the penalty area. Liverpool were struggling to create many opportunities, with coach Jurgen Klopp ringing the changes in the second half, and one of those substitutes came up trumps - Firmino flicking home from a corner to break the deadlock in the 75th minute.
With their resistance broken, the errors started to creep in for Inter and Salah pounced when they failed to clear a long ball into the box to put the game to bed seven minutes from time. Even with the away goals rule no longer in force, the victory puts the 2019 Champions League winners in a commanding position ahead of the return leg on March 8 at Anfield.

30 mins: Stefan De Vrij needs a bit of treatment for something in his eye. There’s a slight stoppage but the defender is going to play on. Neither side has manages a shot on target yet despite but teams making a few mistakes and having good possession in their opposition’s final third.

27 mins: Inter are unable to put together a decent attack and run the ball out of play on the left side. Liverpool then quickly sweep up the pitch and win a free kick of their own about 25-yards out from goal on the inside left.
Trent Alexander-Arnold takes it and attempts to curl a shot into the near top corner but his effort goes narrowly wide of goal. Decent effort.

24 mins: Harvey Elliott sends a wayward pass to Fabinho and Marcelo Brozovic intercepts the ball. Inter give it to Arturo Vidal who is pounced on by Fabinho and wins a free kick in the middle of the pitch.

21 mins: Dumfries wins a corner as the ball deflects behind off Robertson. Calhanoglu swings the corner kick into the area but it’s headed clear by Fabinho.
Another Liverpool press sees Mane win the ball off Bastoni and he gives it to Jota who sends it over to Alexander-Arnold. The right-back flicks the ball back over towards Mane who is beaten to the ball in the air.

18 mins: A midfield battle sees Fabinho come away with the ball and burst forward for Liverpool. He’s got Mane and Salah as options in front of him near the edge of the box but Hakan Calhanoglu tracks back and brings down the Liverpool midfielder.
Trent Alexander-Arnold flicks the free kick into the box but doesn’t pick out a teammate and Inter get the ball clear.

15 mins: Chance! Liverpool win a free kick over on the left wing and it’s a perfect delivery from Andy Robertson to curl the ball over to the back post. Virgil van Dijk watches the ball go over his head but Sadio Mane is behind him and wins the ball in the air. He gets a good chunk of the ball with his headed effort but can’t the target and nods it over the crossbar.

12 mins: Dumfries brings the ball down the right side and passes it up to Dzeko. He plays a first time pass into Martinez who has got in behind Robertson and looks for a cross into the box. He’s just about to let fly when the whistle goes and the forward sees the assistant referee’s offside flag raised in the air.

9 mins: Diogo Jota presses high on Stefan de Vrij who panics and knocks the ball into Fabinho. He sends it up the pitch to Sadio Mane who slides Mo Salah into the right side of the box. Salah takes a touch and shoots, winning a corner when his effort is deflected behind.
The corner ball bounces around the box and drops to Fabinho. He pokes it towards goal but De Vrij blocks the shot and tries to get it clear. Thiago Alcantara is positioned on the edge of the box and volleys an effort back towards goal but knocks it over the crossbar.

6 mins: Chance! A cross from the left wing comes into the Liverpool box and Denzel Dumfries keeps the attack going with a headed back into the middle. Liverpool attempt to pass and run the ball clear but Sadio Mane loses it and after a scramble the ball comes out to Lautaro Martinez. He hits a snapshot at goal from the front edge of the box but sends his effort wide of the right-hand post.

3 mins: Milan Skriniar is quickly on top of Sadio Mane as he receives the ball on the left wing for Liverpool. The Inter Milan defender tackles Mane and sends the ball out of play.
Liverpool work the ball across their backline and give it to Fabinho. He gives the ball away with a poor pass into midfield and Inter send it quickly up to Edin Dzeko. The striker takes a shot from range but Fabinho recovers it time to block the shot.
