Once again, Flekken is alert to the danger, as Alexander-Arnold drops a lovely long pass into the path of Salah. The latter races towards the ball at top speed, but Brentford's goalkeeper is already on the scene and clears it away.

SAVE! Flekken flies across to shut out Robertson's near-post header! After Jota tries to find the target with an elaborate overhead kick, the ball falls into the full-back's path, but his headed attempt is bundled behind for a corner!

There's no doubt that Brentford shook off the shackles soon after going behind, but having produced only one shot on target so far, they'll be keen to get more balls into the box. Norgaard missed a big headed chance, and more precise deliveries could be the route through Liverpool's back line. Set-pieces may also play a part, so Vin Dijk and Konate must be prepared to withstand some more aerial duels after the break.

Far from their fluent best, Liverpool nonetheless lead Brentford at Anfield, where it's 1-0 to the home side at half-time. A scintillating break by Jota teed up Diaz to score on his 100th appearance for the Reds, but they produced few other chances as the Bees began to improve and started to pose more of a threat. Slot's side recorded a first-half xG of 0.7, while Brentford managed just 0.19, so they can claim to deserve their slender advantage. Unbeaten in their last 138 Premier League matches when leading at half-time - a run dating back to December 2016 - Liverpool will be hard to defeat from here.

A tame shot on target is safely held by Alisson, as Lewis-Potter drifts inside and tries his luck from 20 yards. He had to hang on, as Wissa was waiting to pounce.
