From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Chelsea have drawn 2-2 against Valencia in their Champions League Group H match in Spain.

The Blues started brightly but could not make their early pressure count, and paid the price when Carlos Soler put Valencia in front shortly before half-time.

But the outstanding Mateo Kovacic replied almost immediately with his first Chelsea goal to level the score going into the break.

Frank Lampard suffered a blow with an injury to Tammy Abraham, who seemed in pain clutching his ribs and was replaced by Michy Batshuayi, but it didn't slow Chelsea's momentum and they took the lead shortly after half-time via Chrstian Pulisic.

Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga then saved a penalty from the captain Dani Parejo, yet Valencia had the final say when Daniel Wass's overhit cross looped over the head of the stranded Kepa and in off the far post in a bizarre moment of fortune.

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

18 mins: James puts an early, low ball into the box after Chelsea approach the area with some slick passes. The cross isn't the greatest but it almost falls to Pulisic who is punished for a forceful tackle when trying to win back the ball.

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

21 mins: Huge chance for Valencia! Huge.

Parejo puts a great ball into the channel and splits Chelsea's defence in two. Rodrigo collects the ball and runs it into the box. He's got Maxi Gomez running in at the far post and he squares the ball to him. Gomez just has to tap the ball past Kepa and Valencia are in front but he misses the ball!

Michael Jones27 November 2019 18:16

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

24 mins: Chelsea give the ball away on the edge of their own box and Costa chips the ball into the area. Soler wins the header and goes for goal but a soft touch gently guides the ball into Kepa's hands.

Michael Jones27 November 2019 18:20

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

27 mins: Chelsea started the match, quickly as they've tended to do under Frank Lampard but they failed to open the scoring. Valencia have responded, they're pushing higher and higher up the pitch and forcing Chelsea to defend more.

Michael Jones27 November 2019 18:23

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

30 mins: Gomez misses again for Valencia. Azpilicueta is slow to react as Valencia win the ball. He leaves a gap open in the defence and Valencia run into it. The ball is passed to the left where Gomez receives it and shoots only for the ball to hit Kepa and go out for a corner.

Michael Jones27 November 2019 18:26

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

33 mins: Kante wins a bouncing ball in midfield and storms at the defence. His ball out to Willian is poor and the Chelsea winger has to check his run to recover the ball. He passes it to James who whips the ball into the box and Abraham heads it wide of goal.

Michael Jones27 November 2019 18:30

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

36 mins: Costa delivers a teasing ball into the box for Chelsea to defend. Gomez walks back towards the byline as the ball comes in but the pass is too heavy and the ball goes out of play.

At the other end Chelsea have their best chance of the half. Reece James gets into the box on the overlap and is played the ball. He cuts it into the box to Abraham but the ball is kicked to Kante who hits it first time and smokes it over the bar.

Michael Jones27 November 2019 18:32

Valencia 0 - 0 Chelsea

39 mins: Save by Cillesson! James puts yet another great ball into the box. It's headed on to Abraham who hits a curling shot at the top corner but Cillesson reacts sharply to push the ball over the goal.

Michael Jones27 November 2019 18:34

Valencia 1 - 0 Chelsea - Soler

40 mins: GOAL! A long ball forward from Cillesson opens up space on the right hand side. Rodrigo takes the ball there and puts it onto his left foot. He crosses the ball into the middle of the box and Soler runs onto it. He scuffs his shot into the ground and Kepa gets a good touch on the ball but it trickles over the line.
