GIROUD’S CHELSEA SITUATION

Olivier Giroud will stay at Chelsea it seems, according to The Athletic.

Reports stated that Giroud had agreed terms on a two-year deal to move to Turin, but now it seems the Frenchman is content to extend his time at Stamford Bridge.

While not the starter, with Timo Werner’s arrival, Giroud’s role as a mentor and experience to fill in when required was always going to make Chelsea reluctant to sell.

SUAREZ IN, HIGUAIN OUT

Juventus hope to switch out Gonzalo Higuain for Luis Suarez.

Andrea Pirlo wants a new No 9 with the Uruguayan unwanted at Barcelona, making him an intriguing option alongside Edin Dzeko, Olivier Giroud and Arek Milik.

Shifting Higuain will be the problem, with the Argentine on huge wages and likely to have his contract paid up in order to force him to leave.

ARSENAL READY TO SELL MARTINEZ

Arsenal have reluctantly decided to sell Emiliano Martinez and will now continue talks with Aston Villa, who are expected to make an improvement on their £15m offer for the goalkeeper.

Despite a series of discussions between Martinez and head coach Mikel Arteta, the Argentine has been given no clear assurances over being the club’s long-term No 1, with Bernd Leno in line to start Arsenal’s season-opening fixture against Fulham on Saturday.

The Independent understands that Martinez has already agreed personal terms with Villa on a four-year contract, worth in the region of £60,000 per week.

Dean Smith’s side are Martinez’s first choice as he wants to remain in the Premier League, despite firm interest from Villarreal in Spain.

Martinez has recently rejected a significantly improved contract offer from Arsenal as he has always insisted that playing time is his priority.
