Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tottenham enjoyed a comfortable afternoon at the office as Lucas Moura netted a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Huddersfield.

Victor Wanyama opened the scoring before the Brazilian took over scoring three times to move Spurs into third place in the race for the Champions League places.

Here's how it all played out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

Off the bar!

Juan Foyth deliciously lifts over the top for Fernando Llorente, who controls the pass with an equally delicious touch and volleys nicely, the ball not quite dipping in time as it cannons off the topside of the crossbar.

Jonathan Hogg seethes at referee Lee Mason after he is whistled for a foul, screwing his face up in disgust as he screams apparent obscenities at Mason.

It was a foul. Christian Eriksen's attempted delivery is cleared by Jon Gorenc Stankovic, who also side foots away Eriksen's driven shot.

Dancing feet from Lucas Moura find little joy against Chris Löwe, but he does win a corner.

Initially played short and then cleared, Ben Davies finds space on the opposite side and whips a cross in, but it is too deep and Erik Durm rises well to head the ball out of play.

Ben Davies isn't the most natural of goalscorer.

Christian Eriksen half-turns nicely in midfield and spots his wing-back on the rampage down the left, feeding the ball perfectly into his path but turning away in anguish as Davies's shot starts wide and only gets wider.

Two men down, one from each side, Elias Kachunga and Victor Wanyama both stricken after the latter's challenge on the former.

Both limp off for further treatment, but both will continue when permitted by Lee Mason.

And they're back.

Victor Wanyama gets exactly what he doesn't want from his first touch back on - Jonathan Hogg takes man and ball as he slides into him.

Wanyama gets up a little gingerly. Mauricio Pochettino may be wise to look to Oliver Skipp.

I may have underestimated Kyle Walker-Peters' aerial ability earlier. He's offside but shows great hops to win another header and set up Christian Eriksen to slice over the bar.

Juan Foyth misplaces pass and compounds his error with a awful hack against Terence Kongolo's legs as the Dutchman looks to come forward.

Into the book he goes.
