Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Tottenham enjoyed a comfortable afternoon at the office as Lucas Moura netted a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Huddersfield.

Victor Wanyama opened the scoring before the Brazilian took over scoring three times to move Spurs into third place in the race for the Champions League places.

Here's how it all played out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

Just the one minute of added time as a cross sails over Romelu Lukaku's head.

Half Time: Manchester United 1-0 West Ham

Harry Latham-Coyle13 April 2019 18:17

An open, odd half of football, Manchester United ahead, but probably the worse team.

West Ham were unfortunate: Felipe Anderson clearly onside as he volleyed in early on; Robert Snodgrass' risky challenge on Juan Mata ruled a penalty by Graham Scott.

They've looked capable of exploiting some vulnerabilities in the hosts' defence, but have failed to test David De Gea often enough. The same is true vice versa, though. It's a game firmly in the balance.

Manuel Pellegrini gave Graham Scott and his officiating team a piece of his mind as they disappeared down the tunnel. The Chilean is not happy with the decisions that have gone against his team.

Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial jog out three abreast, smiles on their faces as they converse, presumably in French.

We are ready to resume...

And resume we do. No changes.

Straight away Manchester United come forward.

Both Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial are inches from stabbing efforts on goal, West Ham just about doing enough to keep them from releasing shots.

Javier Hernandez shows some muscle as he backs into Phil Jones, just, just offside as Arthur Masuaku finds him well, the whistle of the referee preventing him shooting on the turn.
