Team news
Initial fears of an injury to Son Heung-min, after the forward was withdrawn early during Spurs’ win over Southampton, have been dampened meaning new signings Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon remain the only two players unavailable to Pochettino.
Bayern are missing both leon Goretzka and Jann-Fiete Arp through injury, while Ivan Perisic is also a doubt after missing Bayern’s victory at Paderborn through illness. David Alaba has completed his injury recovery and could return to the starting eleven.
Predicted line-ups
Tottenham: Lloris; Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Ndombele, Winks, Sissoko; Eriksen; Son, Kane
Bayern: Neuer; Pavard, Sule, Boateng, Alaba; Kimmich, Thiago; Gnabry, Coutinho, Coman; Lewandowski
Prediction
Tottenham 1-3 Bayern Munich
Despite a number of iffy performances to start the season, Spurs will raise their level against Bayern and have shown on numerous occasions that they are capable of holding their own against such opposition. However, with the added threat of Coutinho, and Lewandowski in such spectacular form, Bayern should come out on top in a wide-open attacking game.
80 MIN Tottenham 2-4 Bayern
Last throw of the dice for Pochettino. Lamela on for Winks as Spurs go in search of two goals.
83 MIN Tottenham 2-5 Bayern
GNABRY HAT TRICK! A simple long ball from Thiago leaves Tottenham defenders in no mans' land. Gnabry makes that familiar run in behind and places the ball into the bottom corner. What a return to North London.
85 MIN Tottenham 2-5 Bayern
Fans filing out of the ground now. Disaster showing in the second half from Spurs.
87 MIN Tottenham 2-6 Bayern
SIX! And it's simply world class from Bayern. Alderweireld gives the ball away, Gnabry breaks down the left, rolls the ball inside into Coutinho whose deft touch sets up Lewandowski.
88 MIN Tottenham 2-7 Bayern
WOW! Gnabry gets his fourth and Bayern's seventh! Another sloppy pass from Spurs and Bayern break once again. Gnabry drills home from 20 years into the bottom left.
90 MIN Tottenham 2-7 Bayern
Utter humiliation for Spurs. This team were finalists last season! They are a long way from that level now.
90 MIN Tottenham 2-7 Bayern
Two minutes added on, Lewandowski toying with Vertonghen on the right hand side and wins a free kick.
FULL TIME Tottenham 2-7 Bayern
Wow. Boos ring around the ground. Difficult to remember a result as embarrassing as that one.
Bayern score SEVEN in North London.
FULL TIME Tottenham 2-7 Bayern
Reaction coming soon. Doubt Poch will be be too chirpy.
