Team news
Initial fears of an injury to Son Heung-min, after the forward was withdrawn early during Spurs’ win over Southampton, have been dampened meaning new signings Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon remain the only two players unavailable to Pochettino.
Bayern are missing both leon Goretzka and Jann-Fiete Arp through injury, while Ivan Perisic is also a doubt after missing Bayern’s victory at Paderborn through illness. David Alaba has completed his injury recovery and could return to the starting eleven.
Predicted line-ups
Tottenham: Lloris; Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Ndombele, Winks, Sissoko; Eriksen; Son, Kane
Bayern: Neuer; Pavard, Sule, Boateng, Alaba; Kimmich, Thiago; Gnabry, Coutinho, Coman; Lewandowski
Prediction
Tottenham 1-3 Bayern Munich
Despite a number of iffy performances to start the season, Spurs will raise their level against Bayern and have shown on numerous occasions that they are capable of holding their own against such opposition. However, with the added threat of Coutinho, and Lewandowski in such spectacular form, Bayern should come out on top in a wide-open attacking game.
39 MIN Tottenham 1-1 Bayern
Bayern finally looking more comfortable as they peg Spurs back in their own half. The Germans are fortunate to be level here. Spurs will rue some wasted chances.
43 MIN Tottenham 1-1 Bayern
Spurs look leggy after their high intensity start. Bayern piling the pressure on with Lloris forced to punch a Gnabry cross away from danger. Coutinho constantly looking to fire on goal from the left, Ndombele booked for a challenge on the Brazilian although it seemed harsh.
44 MIN Tottenham 1-1 Bayern
Lewandowski with a free kick in a dangerous position on the edge of Spurs' box. His tame effort goes out for a corner with help from the wall.
45 MIN Tottenham 1-2 Bayern
LEWANDOWSKI MAKES NO MISTAKE! Delightful skill on the right from the Polish striker who back heels the ball over Vertonghen and then crosses. A penalty appeal is turned down before Lewandowski gets back on the ball and produces a beautiful finish on the turn from the edge of the box. Lloris helpless. What a goal, what a player.
HALF TIME Tottenham 1-2 Bayern
What a strange first half. Spurs controlled much of it, but magic from Kimmich and then Lewandowski has given Bayern the all important lead.
HALF TIME Tottenham 1-2 Bayern
Ndombele and Son simply superb for the home side. They combined on multiple occasions, and seemed to have Bayern where they wanted them. But with the interval approaching Bayern saw blood and Lewandowski did what he always does. His finish was like a homing missiles into the bottom corner. No doubt.
SECOND HALF Tottenham 1-2 Bayern
Interesting switch from Bayern as Thiago comes on for Alaba.
Back underway.
46 MIN Tottenham 1-2 Bayern
Kane booked for what looked like an elbow into Tolisso's head as the two challenged for the ball in the air
48 MIN Tottenham 1-2 Bayern
Looks like a 4-4-1-1 off the ball from Bayern as the wingers look to protect their full backs.
