From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Real Madrid presented Eden Hazard at the Bernabeu as 50,000 welcomed him to the Spanish capital.
Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in 2009 drew around 70,000 supporters to the stadium, but Madrid pushed that close with Hazard's arrival, as the first statement signing the club have made for some time.
Hazard completed his transfer from Chelsea this week for an initial fee of £89m, which could rise to as much as £150m with add-ons. He joins Luka Jovic among several new arrivals as Madrid look to revitalise the team under returning manager Zinedine Zidane.
What time is the presentation?
Eden Hazard is set to be presented between 6-7pm BST.
It's a lovely set of skills. He kept it simple at first with some steady kick-ups, then branched out to a couple of leg-overs (might not be the technical term), then finished with a delightful seal-esque balancing on the forehead. Nothing outrageous but a very classy set. 8 out of 10.
He's also got through the booting of balls into the crowd and is now going for something altogether more modern, with a selfie bit choreographed by a man in a polo T-shirt who keeps telling Hazard to point at the badge on his chest. All in all, quite a strange affair this, isn't it.
He's kicking more half-gold-half-white balls into the crowd. He looks a bit bored.
He is occasionally varying things with a throw of a ball into the crowd, but mostly it's a firm volley. What dreams are made of. He's probably thinking about what to have for dinner.
He just scored a penalty by rolling it into the empty net. Clinical.
And that looks to be about it, although we are still expecting Hazard to speak some more. A presentation of two halves so far, which really exploded into life in the early stages before rather petering out.
Hazard is now expected to presented in front of the media to take some questions, alongside Florentino Perez.
Well this is rather sweet. The Hazards get a family photo to remember:
