Celtic‘s domination of Scottish football continued with an absorbing 1-0 Betfred Cup final win over Old Firm rivals Rangers at Hampden Park.
The Light Blues passed up a series of chances with Hoops goalkeeper Fraser Forster making key saves to keep the game scoreless at the interval.
Rangers were punished for those missed opportunities when Celtic defender Christopher Jullien knocked in a Ryan Christie free-kick in the 59th minute.
Forster then saved a penalty from Alfredo Morelos, after Hoops right-back Jeremie Frimpong had been sent off by referee Willie Collum for fouling the striker inside the box.
Neil Lennon’s 10 men held out for their 10th consecutive trophy win and his first success in the tournament as a manager, as Celtic delivered a psychological blow to Rangers, who have gone eight years without a major piece of silverware.

Rangers are waiting anxiously on the fitness of Jordan Jones and Borna Barisic.
Celtic are significantly hampered by injuries though with Jozo Simunovic, Scott Bain, Jonathan Hayes and Daniel Arzani all ruled out. Mohamed Elyounoussi, Jack Hendry, Hatem Elhamid and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo are also doubts due to niggling injuries.

What a remarkable sequence of play! Just two minutes after Celtic took the lead, the ball pinballed around their box and fell to Morelos, who was dragged down by Frimpong just as he was about to pass into a gaping net.
Morelos, who is still yet to score in 11 Old Firm appearances and might well have had a hat-trick today, then smashed the penalty almost straight at Forster.
Forrest comes off for Britton. Can Celtic hold on with 10-men?

What a chance! Edouard wins the ball inside Rangers' half, swivels and plays Johnston clean through. The substitute tears in on goal, opens up to shoot and skews the shot horribly wide.

Aribo with a nasty challenge on Hayes, who doesn't underplay his reaction to the foul. Celtic's players plead for a red card but it's just a yellow for the former Charlton player. Moments later, Aribo is replaced by Barker.

It's going to be a thrilling final 15 minutes here at Hampden Park. Edouard's introduction has made such an impact for Celtic and a last-ditch tackle prevents him from toe-poking home. McGregor is then booked for a full-blooded tackle on Barisic and tensions are running high now.
79 mins: Rangers 0-1 Celtic
Celtic's players are incensed after Morelos stamps on Jullien's ankle. The striker certainly knew what he was doing, but the officials are none the wiser, and the goalscorer is left writhing around on the floor in pain.
After the ball is played out, Rangers then refuse to give it back and Morelos thrashes a shot over the bar from the edge of the box. Lennon is going absolutely berserk on the touchline.

Rangers are throwing everyone forwards now and they win another corner - their 10th of the game. They still can't beat Forster though.
Ajer is down with cramp for Celtic but Lennon has already used all his substitutions.
