Manchester United ended Liverpool's 100 percent start to the Premier League season -- and their 17 match winning streak -- with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

But there was disappointment for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side who were five minutes away from a win before Liverpool substitute Adam Lallana grabbed an equaliser for the league leaders to cancel out Marcus Rashford's 36th minute opener.

United are now unbeaten in their last seven home games against Liverpool, whose lead over second-placed Manchester City is cut to six points.

Rashford scored after turning home a superb low cross from Dan James after the speedy Welshman had broken down the right flank.

The goal was subject to a video review and allowed to stand despite Liverpool claims that Victor Lindelof had fouled Divock Origi at the start of the move.

Liverpool thought they had got level, two minutes before the interval, when Sadio Mane outfought Lindelof and poked home but the VAR review showed the Senegalese forward had handled the ball.

But Juergen Klopp's side, who had struggled to find openings, finally broke through in the 85th minute when Lallana slotted home Andy Robertson's low cross.

The news is far more positive for Liverpool in the goalkeeper department. Alisson Becker is set to return from injury and should replace Adrian.

Joel Matip is also expected to be restored to the starting XI having recovered from a calf injury. But there is no Mohamed Salah, who picked up a knock against Leicester before the international break.

Liverpool may be heavy favourites today, but Klopp's record at Old Trafford is not overly impressive.

Manchester United would have taken a point before the game but they'll feel disappointed that they gave away the lead.

Liverpool were nowhere near the team we've come to expect in the first half but they responded brilliantly in the second half and got the equaliser.

That means the remain top of the table but their lead is cut to six points over Man City.

Manchester United move up to 13th but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take some heart from that performance.

Klopp's title contenders pick up a point that could prove important, while Solskjaer's side miss out on morale-boosting win:

Reaction from goalscorer Adam Lallana on what Jurgen Klopp told him to do:

"Just make an impact. We had 25 minutes left. We weren't at our best today so you look to the bench to make a change. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was extremely good when he came on. If we want to win the title we will need the squad not just a starting XI. Form goes out the window in these games.

"It felt that we controlled the game when I was on, certainly after the first 10 minutes and at the end I thought we were the only team who would go on and get all three points.

"It's huge. We have come to Old Trafford and got a point. We would probably have taken that at the beginning of the season and we are still unbeaten. There are huge positives to take considering we weren't at our best today."
