Liverpool exorcised the ghosts of 2014 with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea to keep their Premier League title charge on track.

Sadio Mane's header early in the second half was followed moments later by a goal-of-the-season contender from Mohamed Salah and, after two uncharacteristic misses by Eden Hazard, the Reds regained the top spot they had lost 90 minutes earlier to Manchester City.

Salah's goal was worthy of winning a title let alone a game, but for now Liverpool will settle for the latter. A two-point lead over City, winners at Crystal Palace, was restored and proved Jurgen Klopp's previous assertion that no-one is getting rid of his side in this most enthralling of races. 35 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Liverpool struggling to create an opening, and Chelsea are always such a threat on the break...

This time, Robertson poorly gives the ball away, but Hazard is all on his own up against three Liverpool defenders.

Good chance for Sadio Mane here!

Salah cutting in from the right sets up the Senegalese, and his shot is a whisker wide from nestling into the top corner, with Kepa beaten!

Rudiger is down once again clutching his knee, and it's looking like the German may have to come off here...

Alisson is fortunate a poor clearance isn't punished by Loftus-Cheek and Chelsea.

The Reds haven't really been at it so far...

44 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

First booking of the game goes to Cesar Azpilicueta, after the defender cynically blocks Sadio Mane.

45 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Alexander-Arnold's ball into the box is superb, and Kepa saves from an offside Firmino - the flag is up.

Three minutes of added time - the same amount added on as in the first-half five years ago...

HALF-TIME: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

No goals in the first-half, and Chelsea will be the much happier of the two sides.

Liverpool have struggled, but have also had a few chances through Mo Salah and Sadio Mane - Willian had the best chance for Chelsea when he should've made Alisson work.

But it's level at the break - as things stand, Liverpool will stay in second place on goal difference, with Man City having played a game less.
