Liverpool exorcised the ghosts of 2014 with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea to keep their Premier League title charge on track.
Sadio Mane's header early in the second half was followed moments later by a goal-of-the-season contender from Mohamed Salah and, after two uncharacteristic misses by Eden Hazard, the Reds regained the top spot they had lost 90 minutes earlier to Manchester City.
Salah's goal was worthy of winning a title let alone a game, but for now Liverpool will settle for the latter. A two-point lead over City, winners at Crystal Palace, was restored and proved Jurgen Klopp's previous assertion that no-one is getting rid of his side in this most enthralling of races. Prediction…
Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea
14 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Salah shirks past Willian, and then he goes down under the challenge of Luiz on the byline.
Didn't get any of the ball did the Brazilian, but not sure there was much, if any, contact on Salah. No penalty.
17 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Both teams have plenty of space in attack, with both midfields pushing up and pressing.
Hazard caught offside again, but there's space for Chelsea's number 10 - Liverpool have been a tad sluggish in the last 5.
19 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Keita is found on the left by a superb diagonal ball from Alexander-Arnold, but his cross into the box is straight at Kepa.
20 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Hazard this time beats the offside trap, and after twisting and turning Matip, he shoots straight at Alisson at the near post.
He's having an impact...
21 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Antonio Rudiger is now down after an accidental collision with Sadio Mane.
The Chelsea physios are on...
23 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Rudiger is gingerly walking off, but is set to continue.
25 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Chelsea have had the better of it in the last ten minutes.
Liverpool sloppy in possession too often so far.
26 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Jordan Henderson shoots first-time after Salah's neat lay-off, but it's deflected over by Luiz.
30 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
What a waste from Willian!
Luiz's ball down the middle finds Willian, and it's 2 v 2 with Hazard in support.
But Willian skews his shot wide from the edge of the box, when he simply had to hit the target.
33 minutes: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Chelsea break quickly again, but Loftus-Cheek is wasteful outside the box when he should've had a shot.
Maurizio Sarri will be satisfied with his team's performance so far though...
