Frank Lampard’s side have shown serious improvements in recent weeks, having now kept a clean sheet in their last five successive matches, and can move into the top four with a victory.
It’s been a different story for Sheffield United so far, though, with Chris Wilder’s side taking just one point from their opening seven games. Furthermore, the Blades have only scored three goals in total and desperately need a result to kickstart their season. Follow all the action below live:

Some early attacking intent from Sheffield United, who come forward down the right and force Chelsea to deal with a couple of crosses.

The players take a knee, and Chelsea get the ball rolling!
The players are out at Stamford Bridge. We’ll be underway shortly…
Edouard Mendy is yet to concede in the Premier League - or the Champions League - so he’ll probably be confident of keeping another clean sheet tonight. Sheffield United have scored three goals in seven games so far.
The managers speak to Sky Sports…
Frank Lampard: “We’re getting better. I expected it, but we had to work for it. New group, some injuries are coming back. Relationships on the pitch are getting better and we’re in a decent place. But in football that never stops, and we’ve got a difficult opponent today."
Chris Wilder: “I’ve told all the players not look at the league table. I have belief in how we’re going about it. We can’t go toe to toe with any of these clubs, but we’ll try to stay in the game and try to cause them problems going forward.”

Chelsea make just one change from the team that easily beat Rennes in the Champions League last week. Mateo Kovacic replaces Jorginho in midfield.
For Sheffield United, Oliver Norwood, John Lundstram and David McGoldrick all start in place of Oli McBurnie, Ben Osborn and Ethan Ampadu.
Over to Stamford Bridge now, then. An in-form Chelsea side host a very much out of form Sheffield United team, so it’s pretty obvious who the overwhelming favourites are.
But the Blades were no pushovers against Liverpool or against Manchester City in their last two games.
Still, this is a tough ask, and Chelsea are really starting to take shape under Frank Lampard. They’ve stopped conceding goals - thanks largely to the additions of Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva - and they are stacked with attacking options.
A win today could take Chelsea into third place, while Sheffield United hope to move off the bottom of the table.
