From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Glenn Murray put Brighton ahead in the 27th minute before Sergio Aguero levelled just 83 seconds later in a frantic first-half. City pushed again and Aymeric Laporte put them ahead with a bullet header from a corner just before half-time. Riyad Mahrez's shot from range added to their lead just after the hour mark before Ilkay Gundogan sealed it with a wonderful free-kick.

Plenty of pomp and pageantry as they face the wall of photographers, streamers, champers and the rest as the players celebrate.
Pep Guardiola watches on from afar, pondering. Still an FA Cup Final to come, of course.
Leroy Sane douses Yaya Toure with champagne. They are treating the Ivorian as if he played every minute this season. Clearly still a very, very popular figure in a dressing room he left a year ago.
Noel Gallagher sings along to one of his own songs in the crowd. In fact, they've dug out the Oasis Greatest Hits CD from the cupboard. Through the songbook we cycle!
Vincent Kompany insists the players had no idea about the Liverpool game during the 90 minutes. A fourth title as captain, now behind only John Terry in that category.
Totemic.
That'll be all from us here this afternoon, an extraordinary feat of footballing excellence achieved by an extraordinary side, back-to-back titles, 198 points over two seasons for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, holding off a remarkable Liverpool challenge to secure the Premier League on the final day.
