THURSDAY’S TRANSFER NEWS
Good morning and welcome to The Independent’s Arsenal transfer news live blog, where we’ll keep on top of all the latest comings and goings at the Emirates right up until the 5 October deadline.
The Gunners continue to be linked with a move for a new midfielder, with Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey the most likely arrivals as Mikel Arteta hunts for a statement signing this summer.
But for that to happen, Arsenal need to sell. Following the £20m departure of Emiliano Martinez, more departures are expected to help raise funds as Arteta is happy to trim the club’s bloated squad.
