When Pep Guardiola met young fan Braydon

Leicester City won the Community Shield on Sunday by defeating Manchester City at Wembley Stadium thanks to a late penalty from Kelechi Iheanacho.

The former Man City striker was fouled in the box after catching defender Nathan Ake on the ball, then stepped up to the spot to blast a finish past Zack Steffen – who got a hand on the effort.

Leicester seemed to be an afterthought heading in the pre-season fixture, which felt like it was more about Man City’s British-record signing Jack Grealish and a potential debut for the midfielder.

The England international joined Pep Guardiola’s team from Aston Villa for £100million this week and came off the bench at Wembley for his first appearance in sky blue.

Despite some impressive contributions, Grealish was unable to inspire Man City to break the deadlock, and it was Iheanacho who proved the match-winner with his late penalty heroics.

Many fans question the significance of the Community Shield, but it clearly meant a great deal to the Leicester City fans at Wembley, who roared upon hearing the final whistle. This trophy follows the FA Cup win by Brendan Rodgers’ side in May, secured with a victory over Chelsea at the same stadium. Relive the action below.

Could Jack Grealish make his Man City debut?

Jack Grealish completed his £100 million move to Manchester City earlier this week and could make his first appearance for the Premier League champions in the Community Shield today.

Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden are all absent from Pep Guardiola’s side which could provide Grealish the opportunity to secure his place in the side.

What is the team news?

British-record signing Jack Grealish could make his first appearance for Man City after completing a £100million move from Aston Villa this week, but the England midfielder is likely to feature off the bench, if at all.

Ederson, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus will all be absent for Guardiola’s side.

Leicester, meanwhile, will be without the injured trio of Timothy Castagne, James Justin and Jonny Evans, while Wesley Fofana’s season is in doubt after he fractured his fibula this week in a pre-season friendly against Villarreal.
